Red Ribbon Week

We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week at Ravenel. We recite the drug free speech every morning to remind ourselves how important it is to stay drug free. We have several activities planned this week. Monday we will be creating a picture to tell others to stay drug free that will be attached to large pizzas (Papa John's) that will be sent out from October 27 - October 31. On Tuesday, we will write a slogan with our "Say No to Drugs" pencils. On Wednesday, we will enjoy our smartees candy - "I'm too smart to do drugs." On Thursday, we will all sign our drug pledge. On Friday, we will "Plant the Promise". We will plant tulips that will serve as a reminder in the spring that we have pledged to stay drug free.

Career Day

We had Career Day at Ravenel. Our class had the opportunity to meet a Seneca Police Officer, volunteer firemen from Corinth Shiloh Fire Department, an EMS worker, a dentist, chemists, and a clinical dietician. We know that school is very important. Many of the speakers told us they use Math, Reading, and Science every day in their career choice.

We would like to thank all of the presenters that took time out of their schedule to share information about their careers. I think you have given many of our students a lot to think about. Thank you for volunteering at Ravenel Elementary School.

MAP Testing

MAP testing will be finished this week. I will send home a report so that you may view your child's most recent scores. We will test two more times this year, mid-year and end of year. Your child will set a goal each time to improve their score. Encourage them to do their very best while testing. The students are proud of the progress they have made so far. I am proud of them too!
